Apartment Review for The Gateway At Tempe - Tempe, AZ

I have lived here for about a year now and thank God I'm getting out of this trap! 1. There's kids working in the main office who only work there because they either get 1/2 off rent or live there for free. They tried telling me I was late on paying my rent twice. No, I was not. Both times I turned in rent days before it was due (the first time I even physically gave them my envelope) and fought them on it. They insisted that I pay the late fee and pay them my rent. And both times, just days after rent was due, they called me and said they found my rent just sitting on the table in the office. JUST SITTING THERE IN PLAIN SIGHT!! For anyone to take! That's just unacceptable. 2. Maintenance sucks. My bathtub drain was clogged when I moved in. Whenever I showered, the water wouldn't drain (and when it did, it'd take all day to drain) and my shower turned into a bath. I called maintenance and it took them 2 WEEKS to come out and fix it. Same thing with the dryer in the unit. But instead of taking 2 weeks to come and fix it, they didn't come AT ALL! It would literally take me 4 hours just to wash and dry my clothes. And when there's 3 other people in the unit that need to wash their clothes, it takes forever! 3. Forget about safety and privacy. The locks to the bedroom/bathroom doors do little protect your belongings from being stolen by other 'roommates'. I complained to the kids in the office and they just laughed. They thought it was funny and told me it's not a big deal and said the locks can be easily be picked with just a nickel. Lovely, right? 4. 'Controlled Access Gates' don't work more than half the time. They just stay open, letting anyone in. And the parking lot is a death trap. Those speed bumps you see don't stop people from flying right over them. I'm pretty sure they're meant for speed control but it doesn't really matter. Be careful when you back out. There have been numerous times I've tried backing my car out of those tiny parking spots, only to come so close to being t-boned by some moron speeding through the parking lot. And be careful when parking your car here. I'm sure there's dozens of drunk drivers coming home at 4am, trying to park their car right next to yours. Don't be surprised if you come out the next day and find a dent in your door or elsewhere on your vehicle. Parents beware. Students beware. Don't let the kids in the office fool you. Find someplace else to live. Gateway At Tempe is NOT worth the money!
