Apartment Review for Somerset Village - Tempe, AZ

Although I generally enjoyed living here and found the apartment, the grounds, and most of the staff friendly, I must say I was thoroughly disappointed by the management, especially when it came time to move out. I was unable to be present for the walkthrough because the manager is only on-site certain days of the week at undisclosed times. When I had to reschedule my appointment, the manager was rude and difficult to deal with, and would not change her schedule to meet with me. I was charged 75 for pet treatment for the carpet even though I had paid a non-refundable pet deposit. When asked about this, I was told that was just the fee they charge and it doesn't "go to anything in particular." I had to do a month-to-month lease for the last two months, and even though the lease stated the rent would be market rate plus $50, I was charged market rate plus $100, and was unable to speak to the manager in person, due to her erratic schedule at the complex. All communications went through the office staff to her, and back through them to me. In all communications with her, directly or indirectly, she was rushed, by the book and unwilling to be flexible, as well as often just plain rude. I am not commenting just to complain, I want to make future renters aware of what they may be facing. I feel the treatment I received was undeserved, considering I paid my rent on time, followed the policies, and was there for over a year.
